ON THIS DAY in 1910, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Long Strike Fight Planned by Drivers; May Tie Up Brooklyn.”
The article focused on a strike that took place in Manhattan, which had escalated into a violent affair when one man was shot.
“Several developments took place in the strike situation to-day,” the Eagle reported. “The most important of these was a summons to William H. Ashton, the labor organizer who is in active charge of the strike, to meet Mayor Gaynor at the City Hall forthwith.”
