The Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) system has begun two multi-year programs to provide free access to citizenship and legal services for immigrants.

Prepare For Citizenship is a series of formal 11-week citizenship courses for ESOL learners that will be offered at the Canarsie, Flatbush, Sunset Park and Kensington branches.  It will be funded through a grant from the Department of Homeland Security. Catholic Migration Services is a program partner.

Two new Immigrant Justice Corps Community Fellows have also been assigned to provide free legal assistance to low-income BPL patrons who need help filing applications for citizenship, DACA, green cards and other benefits.
