Culture Briefs: Verrazano exhibit, textile art and Brooklyn Open mic
BOUND AND UNBOUND
The Brooklyn Museum (200 Eastern Parkway) will debut a brand new exhibition, Judith Scott – Bound and Unbound on Friday, October 24. The exhibition will run through March 29, 2015 in the museum’s Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art on the fourth floor.
Scott’s work is celebrated for its astonishing visual complexity. In a career spanning just 17 years, she has developed a unique and idiosyncratic method to produce a body of work of remarkable originality, using yarn, thread, fabric, and other fibers to envelop found objects into fastidiously woven, wrapped and bundled structures.
