‘Gotta Sing’ Concert to feature young Brooklyn pianist
Brooklyn’s Regina Opera Company will continue its 45th season with a Nov. 2 “Gotta Sing” Concert, featuring classical music and opera and Broadway favorites. The concert will feature 8-year-old pianist Amaru Tupacyupanqui, who hails from Sunset Park and attends Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Academy.
Other performers include sopranos Mizuho Takeshita and Cheryl Warfield, mezzo-soprano Milica Nikcevic, tenor Tate Jorgensen, baritone David Tillistrand and pianist Maxin Feldman.
According to an article published in the Home Reporter this past summer, Tupacyupanqui received top honors this past May in the Hispanic Youth Showcase Talent Competition for his piano performance. Tupacyupanqui told the Home Reporter he was “excited” and “surprised” to have won “because I was the youngest person in the category.”
