Camp Brooklyn – a not-for-profit organization founded by former Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz to help send less fortunate kids to camp – is once again honoring its founder at the program’s annual Community Service Award Gala, slated for Thursday, October 23.

Founded in 2002, the Camp Brooklyn Fund’s mission is to send economically disadvantaged Brooklyn boys and girls to accredited overnight camps for two weeks at no cost to the camper – granting them the experience of a lifetime. Made possible through fundraisers, sponsorships, grants for program support and personal donations, Camp Brooklyn has been going strong ever since.

This year’s gala will once again honor Markowitz and, new this year, Gina Argento of Broadway Stages. The evening affair will take place at the 40/40 Club within the Barclays Center (620 Atlantic Avenue) from 6 to 9 p.m.
