Police Beat: 68 and 62 Precinct blotters

Between Friday, September 12 and Sunday, September 21, the 68th Precinct received reports of one burglary, one grand larceny and one robbery. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.

A woman living near 92nd Street and Colonial Road returned from a few days away to find that an unknown person had allegedly entered her residence through the rear bedroom window, removing miscellaneous jewelry valued at over $12,000.

She told cops that the incident took place sometime between 7:40 a.m. on Friday, September 12 and 7:15 a.m. on Monday, September 15.

JEWELED SUSPECT

Sometime between 11 a.m. and 2:10 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, an unknown person allegedly entered the residence of a woman living near Colonial Road and 96th Street. According to cops, the unknown perp allegedly entered the home through the second floor rear window.

Property removed included miscellaneous jewelry valued at approximately $74,500.

EARLY MORNING MADNESS

On Sunday, September 21 around 6:05 a.m. a man who had just parked his car near Fifth Avenue and 82nd Street was allegedly pushed to the ground by two unknown men. According to cops, the perps then pushed the victim to the ground and began to punch and kick him.

The perps then allegedly swiped the man’s wallet and his Samsung Galaxy Note 3 cell phone from his pocket and fled the scene.

62nd Precinct

Between Tuesday, September 16 and Monday, September 22, the 62nd Precinct received reports of five robberies, eight burglaries, eight grand larcenies, six felony assaults and two auto thefts. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

MISSING WHEELS

A 1987 black Pontiac Grand Prix was stolen from its parking spot near 19th Avenue and 19th Lane in Bath Beach  some time between 8 p.m. Sunday, September 21 and the next morning, said its 65-year-old owner to police.

A 2003 white Chevrolet Avalanche was stolen from a driveway on 72nd Street near 18th Avenue between 10 p.m. on Thursday, September 18 and the early morning hours of September 19, police said.

SIDEWALK DANGER

Police are searching for three 16-year-old males who allegedly cut a 28-year-old man on the head and stole his cell phone and $100 in cash before fleeing near 84th Street and 19th Avenue at around 3 a.m. on Sunday, September 21.

Three Hispanic males reportedly attacked a 37-year-old man and stole his cell phone after attempting to sell him cocaine and then claiming they were undercover cops shortly after 5 a.m. on Saturday, September 20 near New Utrecht Avenue and 74th Street. The victim told police that he believes they were lying.

Police are searching for five Asian men who allegedly mugged a 42-year-old white woman at around 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12 near Bay Parkway and 71st Street, grabbing her bag and then punching her in the face and chest.

Four black men reportedly threw a 13-year-old Asian teen to the ground and stole his cell phone at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17 near West 10th Street and Avenue S, said police.

DIRTY LAUNDRY

Someone cut through the front security gate at a laundromat on 20th Avenue at 74th Street at around 10 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, in order to steal $1,200 in cash from a back room, said police.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man for reportedly holding a Bath Avenue laundromat clerk at knifepoint and stealing $215 in cash from the register shortly after midnight on Wednesday, September 17. He was caught after trying to disable a security camera, at which point the victim hit him in the face with a nightstick, breaking his nose and causing him to flee on foot and be apprehended by police while trying to dispose of his knife.

HOUSE THEFTS

Someone broke into a home via its rear window on 85th Street near 20th Avenue at around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 21, making off with $60 in cash plus credit and debit cards and car keys, said police, who found the 25-year-old victim’s clothes discarded down the street.

Jewelry was stolen from a home on 21st Avenue off 77th Street some time between September 8 and September 20, said police. The perpetrators broke in through the front door.

A home on 64th Street between 17th and 18th Avenues was broken into via the kitchen window, which was forced open, and jewelry was stolen some time overnight between September 19 and 20, said police.

Jewelry, electronics and $2,800 in cash was stolen from a home  on West 10th Street near Quentin Road at around 8:30 a.m. on Friday, September 19, said police, who were told by witnesses that someone had been staring at the residents suspiciously as they left the house.
