On September 16, students from the Xaverian middle school program, Genesis, and Xaverian High School joined forces to “Go Gold” for pediatric cancer awareness.

Members of the middle school’s Student Leadership Council enthusiastically led the “Go Gold” effort at 7100 Shore Road, cutting over 400 yards of gold ribbon and working together with the high school students to hang the ribbon around the outside of the school.  The gold ribbons are a poignant reminder of all those whose lives have been affected by pediatric cancer, especially Frankie Loccisano ’08 and the entire Loccisano family.

Camille Orrichio Loccisano lost her son, Frankie, a member of Xaverian’s Class of 2008, to pediatric cancer in 2007. She founded Frankie’s Mission, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families whose lives have been touched by childhood cancer.  Frankie’s Mission has encouraged businesses, residences and organizations in Bay Ridge to “Go Gold” during September, Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month.
