Brooklyn Today
Good morning, Brooklyn. Today is the 265th day of the year.

ON THIS DAY in 1906, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Church Meeting in Row; No Doxology to End it.” The article focused on a Brooklyn congregation stirred by charges of illegal voting.
“The resignations of the Rev. Charles Herald, pastor, and the Rev. Olin M. Caward, associate pastor, were accepted last night at a meeting of Bethesda Church and Society, held in the edifice, Ralph Avenue and Chauncey Street, and attended with exciting incidents,” the Eagle reported. “One woman became hysterical, denounced those opposed to the pastor and is said to have struck a man in the face, after which she fell in a swoon and was carried into the pastor’s study.”
