62nd Precinct

Between Tuesday, September 9 and Monday, September 15, the 62nd Precinct received reports of three burglaries, six grand larcenies, four robberies and three felony assaults. The 62nd Precinct serves Bensonhurst, Bath Beach and Gravesend.

BOTTLE BRAWL

Two men were assaulted with a glass bottle allegedly by one of the victim’s cousins during a brawl outside a bar near the intersection of Bay Ridge Parkway and New Utrecht Avenue at around 6 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, said police, who are searching for the suspect.

A verbal dispute over money and a phone resulted in a 48-year-old man being hit over the head with a 12-ounce glass beer bottle, leaving him with head pain and a cut on his right index finger, and his 35-year-old friend being slashed on the left ear and right arm.

BASEMENT BURGLES

Jewelry and $5,000 in cash was stolen from a home on 79th Street near Bay Parkway some time after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, reportedly by breaking through the basement door and ransacking the house.

Some time after noon on Monday, September 15, a home on Bay 14th Street near Shore Parkway was reportedly burglarized after a known 32-year-old white male suspect broke through the rear basement door, said police. The suspect made off with $200 in cash plus cigarettes.

TEEN TERRORS

Police are searching for three black males in their late teens for allegedly assaulting a 45-year-old white male, punching him in the face and body near Benson and 24th Avenues at around 8:30 p.m. on September 11, then fleeing northbound on 24th Avenue.

The first suspect is reportedly between 18 and 20 years old, is around six feet tall with an afro, and wore a plaid button-down shirt with tan shorts and a backpack. The second and third suspects are described as being between 16 and 20 years old, wearing shorts and backpacks.

CHUMP CHANGE

Police are searching for two white males in their late teens or early 20s who allegedly used a dark-colored SUV to hit a 20-year-old Asian pedestrian from behind at 18th Avenue and 71st Street and then demand money, then fleeing eastbound on 71st Street in their car with $15 in cash and the victim’s cell phone. The attack reportedly occurred at around 11:20 p.m. on Friday, September 12 and left the victim with head pain and bruises.

TIRE-D AND RIMLESS

A 23-year-old man told police that someone removed the passenger rims and tires from his car, parked outside his home on 20th Avenue near 69th Street overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, September 10-11, and then returned the next night at around 2:35 a.m. to steal the rims and tires from the driver’s side.

KNIFE ATTACK

Police are searching for three Hispanic men who allegedly slashed a 28-year-old man on the left wrist and stabbed him twice in the lower abdomen and once on the right side after he said he didn’t have any cash at around 3 a.m. on Sunday, September 14 on 86th Street near 24th Avenue.
