ON THIS DAY in 1915, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “‘Will Expose Him’ Says Whitehouse.”  The article focused on a “scandal monger” who had been spreading a false story about Samuel S. Whitehouse, a well-known lawyer.
“Mr. Whitehouse declared today that he was pursuing his investigation to determine the identity of the talebearer, but was proceedive with caution order that he might be absolutely sure of his facts before he acted,” the Eagle reported.
