The Wounded Warrior Project, in conjunction with the FDNY, hosted the second annual family fun day for injured veterans and their families in Coney Island on Monday August 11.It was a day of enjoying family, friends, and the beautiful weather, said Howard Dunn, a veteran and long-time supporter of the Wounded Warrior Foundation.“It was a great day. The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time,” Dunn noted. “We had about 75 to 100 Wounded Warriors and their families come out.”The FDNY was a big sponsor of the event and was represented by firefighters and their families as well. In addition, Daniel Nigro, the FDNY commissioner, began the day with words of appreciation for all the sacrifices the Wounded Warriors made for their country as the Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance Way was dedicated.Dunn hopes to have yet another great day for the Wounded Warriors next year. “It was a successful day for the foundation and everyone had fun,” he said. “We hope to continue to do this event in the years to come.”
