ON THIS DAY in 1909, the Brooklyn Daily Eagle published an article titled “Police Conditions Slightly Improved.” The article focused on crime cases in retrospect, finding that there was “slight” or “little” improvement after police enforcement was increased.  The Eagle also focused on an ironic story about a police officer being robbed while he was in the house.
“The Eagle tells to-day of how burglars invaded the house of a policeman in Flatbush while he slept with his trusty revolver at his side…” the article reported.
