Television, film and stage actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler, known to millions for her role as “Meadow Soprano” on the mega-hit HBO series “The Sopranos,” brought smiles and laughter to children fighting a serious disease when she visited Sunrise Day Camp-Long Island.

While the camp is located on Long Island, many children from Brooklyn attend it each day, according to representatives.

Sigler visited the children on Carnival Day. It was an afternoon that brought volunteers together with children whose lives they help brighten.

The star, who spent time hand-painting with four-year-old Timothy Butler of East New York, seems to have had a blast. She tweeted about her visit on her Twitter account, writing, “Thank you to @sunrisedaycamp for having me yesterday. Pls check out and support this amazing org.”

The Sunrise Day Camp is designed for children from three and a half years old to 16 years old and is a program fully dedicated to children with cancer and their siblings. Founded in 2006, Sunrise Day Camp is designed to meet the emotional, social, recreational and physical needs of the children while allowing them to enjoy the comforts and safety of their own homes at night.

The camp’s activities are offered free of charge to all children being treated for cancer and their siblings. More than 850 children are enjoying day camp at Sunrise’s three locations, in Long Island, Israel and Pearl River. Sunrise also sponsors year-round programs in its camp locations and at 20 affiliated pediatric oncology hospitals in the New York metropolitan region.
