The city hopes that resumed East River Ferry service to the India Street ferry landing in Greenpoint will soften the blow for residents who are losing what might be their only means of public transportation—the G train—for five weeks.

Ferry service resumed on Saturday, July 26 after being suspended in February due to the ferry landing breaking during a snowstorm. During the shutdown, the MTA will also be providing a shuttle bus, as well as free transfers from the G to the J and M trains.

Repairs are now being made to the G train’s subway tunnel, damaged by Superstorm Sandy, between Nassau Avenue and Long Island City in Queens.
