Fifteen public high school students, including several from Brooklyn, and many different ethnic groups and religions,  were chosen to participate in the High School Apprenticeship Program (HSAP) at the Museum of Jewish Heritage—A Living Memorial to the Holocaust in Lower Manhattan.

Barclays Center majority owner Bruce Ratner recently became the chairman of the museum.

Recently, the students graduated from their training to become full apprentices. As High School Apprentices or HSAPs, this summer the students are assisting Museum staff in its mission to educate people of all ages and backgrounds about Jewish life over the past century—before, during, and after the Holocaust.

The students began the program by learning about Jewish heritage and the Holocaust through a series of bi-weekly after-school seminars from February to May.  From July to mid-August, they will not only give tours to young people visiting the Museum, but also work in a variety of Museum departments, including Collections and Exhibitions, Administration, Operations, and Education. By working in a close mentoring relationship with Museum staff, the students will be given a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at a New York City museum and gain insight into career options.
