Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy announces new board member

Chris Coffey, who lives in Cobble Hill, was elected to the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy’s Board of Directors at the Conservancy’s April 1 board meeting

The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy has announced the election of Chris Coffey to the organization’s Board of Directors. The election took place at the Conservancy’s April 1 board meeting.

Chris Coffey works at Tusk Strategies as a consultant to some of New York’s best known institutions, including AT&T and Bloomberg Philanthropies. Prior to that, he worked for Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg for over 12 years in a variety of roles, including all three of his campaigns for Mayor of New York.

Most recently, Coffey was an Assistant Commissioner in the Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment where he oversaw communications and relationships with the City’s tech and media industries. During his time in City government, he helped set up the NYC Digital Office in 2010 and co-authored the Roadmap for the Digital City, the first digital blueprint for City government in the nation. Coffey also created a new structure for digital and print ads and oversaw much of the ad placement for the City.

In 2009, Coffey worked on the Bloomberg campaign as a Senior Communications Strategist. He helped secure a record-breaking 64 endorsements from newspapers across the City. He also oversaw the campaign’s video efforts and worked closely with the digital team. Before the 2009 campaign, Coffey was a political producer for Bloomberg News.

During Coffey’s first stint at City Hall from 2002-2007, he served as First Deputy Commissioner of the Mayor’s Community Assistance Unit, where he helped manage the Mayor’s community relationships. He was also Director of the Mayor’s Advance team and Assistant Press Secretary, coordinating the Mayor’s daily events and foreign trips in places ranging from Haiti to Israel to Kosovo.

Coffey was named a Rising Star by the Queens Courier in 2010 and by City Hall News in 2011. Coffey currently serves on the LGBT Center Young Leaders Council. Coffey was born and raised in New York City and now lives in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn with his husband, Adam J. Riff.
