The views are spectacular from the Brooklyn Grange, a rooftop farm within the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Unfortunately, they haven’t fulfilled their potential for the fourth of July since 2008.

But now, with the fireworks set to return to the East River for the first time in five years, a flurry of parties are planned. Event organizers and everyday residents are ecstatic.

“We have front row seats!” said Michele Kaufman, who organized a party on the Brooklyn Grange’s rooftop. “While most of the waterfront will be on lockdown, we’ll be maxing and relaxing on the roof.”

With such prime real estate, $100 tickets for the event were quickly sold out. But the Brooklyn Grange isn’t the only party in town.

Another rooftop bash at 889 Broadway in Bushwick is the brain child of Cheeba Cruz, a music journalist withVulgar Colors, a music magazine and community organization. Cruz is being assisted by Wicked Heathens, a women-owned custom jewelry business, and On the Lam, mostly a DIY fashion production house (but in this instance, providing a “traveling kitchen”).

A True American Celebration so bring your [expletive] moccasins,” read an online statement from Vulgar Colors

More parties will even continue after the spectacle, right through the weekend.
