Pete Sikora, candidate for the 52nd-Assembly District in Brooklyn is set to kick off his campaign Tuesday morning with endorsements from State Senator Daniel Squadron, Councilmember Brad Lander and Councilmember Steve Levin. Sikora has also garnered support from the Working Families Party and Independent Neighborhood Democrats (IND).

The kickoff will take place at the Bergen Street F train stop in Boerum Hill.

Sikora is running against Jo Anne Simon and Doug Biviano for Joan Millman’s seat. Millman is retiring from the Assembly to serve in the city Department for Aging.

The district includes Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Gowanus, DUMBO and part of Park Slope.

Simon has received endorsements from Millman, State Senator Velmanette Montgomery, Congresswoman Nydia Velasquez, Kings County Democratic Chairman Frank Seddio and NYC Comptroller Scott Stringer, and clubs including Lambda Independent Democrats, Brooklyn Young Democrats and Central Brooklyn Independent Democrats.

She has also racked up endorsements from New York City Council Members Carlos Menchaca, Antonio Reynoso and Rosie Mendez.

Sikora told the Brooklyn Eagle via email last month, “My campaign is about ensuring our Brooklyn communities thrive by standing up to reckless developers, supporting local businesses that sustain good jobs for New Yorkers and asking the super-wealthy to pay their fair share in taxes so we can invest in schools (including pre-K slots in our neighborhoods), transit, housing and other vital public services.”

Biviano, who ran unsuccessfully for City Council in 2009, is running a catch-up campaign.
