PHOTOS: DUMBO cheers on the U.S. World Cup soccer team
Soccer fever swept DUMBO on Thursday as hundreds of fans gathered before a giant screen in the Manhattan Bridge Archway to cheer on the United States in the 2014 World Cup match with Germany. Despite a 1-0 loss, the U.S. advanced to the Knockout Round, which only 16 teams make, to be held on Tuesday against an as-yet-undetermined opponent. The crowds should be even bigger then as the U.S. tries to advance to the Field of Eight, and the DUMBO Improvement District and ESPN will again bring the event to the Archway.
