After a successful turnout last year, the Norwegian Christian Home & Health Center had its second “Walk and Wheel” event on Saturday, June 7.

Eighteen participants ran, walked or wheeled the two mile trek which began and ended at the home, 1250-67th Street. BRAVO volunteer ambulance and the police were also there ensuring the safety of the participants.

Although this year’s event had fewer teams than last year, Director of Development Penelope Mandel said, “With fewer teams, we made more money.” To be exact, the event raised over $10,000. “It was very highly motivated for everyone. People came with their pets and it was a wonderful group effort,” she added.

The major sponsors at the event were Chem RX Pharmacy Services and Investors Bank. All the proceeds went to the Norwegian Christian Home to provide residents with flat screen televisions.

“We want to thank everybody that’s been encouraging us to continue this program,” Mandel concluded. “It’s a wonderful program to aide the residents and to tell people about our facilities and the work that we do. It is very much community based and we want the community to be part of our programs.”
