The iconic Brooklyn born actor Tony Danza will be joining the board of New York City’s Police Athletic League and focusing his efforts on strengthening the relationship between the city’s youth and police department.

“As a long-time resident of New York City and a former member of the Police Athletic League as a child, Tony is uniquely qualified to contribute to the organization.  He brings tremendous energy and passion for the children and the communities served by PAL and the NYPD,” said Commissioner William Bratton, who also serves as PAL’s Honorary President.

“Tony is New York. He was built to serve. I think he’s a great addition to PAL, which helps young people achieve their fullest potential,” said John B. Osborn, President of the Board for PAL.

“I love our city and I love our city’s kids. Commissioner Bratton has given me a chance to help bring the great New York City police department and the kids of the greatest city in the world closer together.  The Police Athletic League – PAL, is a great way to do this, and I’m so excited to be part of the effort. For a former PAL kid from Cypress Hills in Brooklyn, it’s really like coming home,” said Danza.

Amongst his many charitable efforts in the city of New York, Tony is also regular volunteer and mentor at the New York City All Stars Project, an after school program that focuses on the developmental power of performance and the arts.

Tony will next be seen on Broadway, starring in the much buzzed about and highly acclaimed smash-hit musical, Honeymoon In Vegas, with music and lyrics by Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown. The show’s pre-Broadway run received rave reviews, and is heading to Broadway for the 2014-2015 season.
