Obituary – Linda Lee Rudloff Doman
Linda Doman, a resident of Brooklyn Heights since 1979, died suddenly following a collapse while visiting her grandchildren in upstate New York on April 26. It is believed that she suffered an aneurism, but the family has not released final details. She and John Doman, her husband, loved the village feeling of Brooklyn Heights and the 19th century scale of streets such as the one they called home, Willow.
Linda was born Feb. 18, 1947 in Green Cove Springs, Florida to Mildred Edwards Hawkins Rudloff and Lyle Lawrence Rudloff. She grew up in Florida and Rhode Island and graduated from Fairleigh Dickenson University. Linda moved to New York City in the mid-1970s.
On Sept. 12, 1981 Linda married John Doman, born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, in St. Bart’s Church on Park Ave in New York City. For the past 35 years they have made their home in Brooklyn Heights.
Linda was extremely creative and artistically gifted. She designed accessories which included handmade hats, bridal veils and jewelry which were sold in exclusive stores such as Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Vera Wang. Her talent didn’t end there. Linda added a unique and inventive flair to everything she touched: decorating, cooking, gardening and being the most gracious party hostess. Linda was an animal lover and often helped find wonderful homes for abandoned animals. Her career led her to various positions in media, publishing, and licensing. She has worked for many years at Time Warner, most recently at The Cartoon Network, in New York.
Linda is survived by her husband, John; her son, Mark Rudloff; her grandchildren, Alison and Andrew Rudloff (her grandson William predeceased her); her sister and brother-in-law, Delores Hawkins Viarengo and Robert Viarengo; her brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Catherine Rudloff; her brother, Louis Hawkins; and nieces and nephews; Leslie, Steven, Elissa, Lyle and Renee.
