I would like to get in shape this year but I can’t afford a gym. Can you think of any low-cost ways I can use to get in shape? Thanks.

Dear Craig,

Yes, there are cheap ways to stay in shape even if you don’t have the financial means to join a gym. Start with stretching every morning and every night.

For cardiovascular exercise, you will want to run or walk a minimum of 45 minutes three times a week and increase slowly, depending on your shape or as soon as you feel comfortable pushing yourself to do a little more.

Get yourself a couple of bottles of water and start flexing your muscles with low weight and then increase the weight when you feel that you can. You can use canned food as weights and increase to bigger bottles of water.

Remember to drink a minimum of 64 ounces of water a day. Yes, every day. Start slowly and increase your intake of water every three days to get your body to eliminate toxins at a steady pace.
