“Missing” signs blanket lampposts throughout neighborhoods across Brooklyn and lower Manhattan, as the mystery of fashion designer James (Jay) Ott deepens.

NYPD Detective Nell told the Brooklyn Eagle on Monday that there is still no sign of Ott more than a week after his disappearance, and the search is continuing.

Late on Sunday, according to a friend of Ott, the NYPD found new surveillance footage showing Ott walking over the Williamsburg Bridge towards Manhattan at 5:02 a.m. on Sunday morning, Match 23.

The friend told the Brooklyn Eagle, “We are continuing our search for more information by checking more surveillance footage from the Delancy St. area and physically visiting hospitals and rehab centers.”

Friends and family have set up a Facebook page hoping for word of the talented designer, who was last seen Saturday leaving the McKibbin Lofts in Bushwick. A surveillance camera caught a glimpse of him walking on Grand Street in Williamsburg around 4:51 a.m. Saturday morning.

At that time, Ott, age 31, was wearing a bright blue cap, dark denim-style jacket, loose-fitting light-colored pants, and dark shoes, but he may be dressed differently now, friends say. Ott may also be clean-shaven.

Ott, who is originally from Pittsburgh, is described as 6’2″, white, 175 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair.

He works as design director at The Dock Group, according to WWD. Friends became concerned when he didn’t show up for work. While he may be suffering from anxiety, his friends told the New York Post that it was unlike him not to reach out.

His credit cards and phone have not been used since Saturday night.

On Facebook, his friends write, “Jay’s family and friends are extremely concerned and anxious to receive any word regarding Jay’s health and safety. His health and safety are our primary concern. If he is seeking help and confidentiality is a concern, we understand, but we would love to hear that he is safe.”

Anyone with any information regarding Ott’s disappearance is asked to contact Detective Thomas Pisano at the 90 Precinct Detective Squad. You can call Pisano at (718) 963-5368, or email [email protected].

Updated at 7:30 p.m. March 31 to reflect friend’s statement that new video footage had been discovered showing Ott walking over the Williamsburg Bridge.
