MTA: L Train just misses man fetching phone in Brooklyn

Authorities say a man who jumped onto New York City subway tracks to retrieve his phone apparently escaped injury when a train passed over him.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says the incident occurred Tuesday morning at the East 105th Street “L” train station in Canarsie, Brooklyn.
The man apparently managed to lie in the space between tracks.
CBS New York says the man walked out of the station after the harrowing incident.
Transit spokesman Kevin Ortiz says people should “never, ever” go onto the tracks to retrieve something.
Ortiz says the man was especially lucky because different parts of the subway system have different clearances between the tracks.
