Cops tell us that they have arrested three individuals suspected of falsely portraying themselves as representatives of Community Board 10 who were soliciting monetary donations allegedly on behalf of a local family which had recently lost a member in a car accident.

According to the 68th Precinct commanding officer, Deputy Inspector Richard DiBlasio, thanks to the help of local merchants and CB 10, cops were able to track and apprehend the trio—two men and one woman—in the midst of commission of the scam.

Once again, he said, the strong collaboration between the members of this community and the 68th Precinct resulted in criminals being removed from our streets, keeping our neighborhoods safe for all.

The arrest took place at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, February 28, following a period of surveillance by Lieutenant Thomas Gulotta and precinct officers.

DiBlasio noted that “it is important for everyone to stay vigilant [as] there are many scams out there [against] both business owners and residents.

“If you are not sure if something is real or not, call the precinct [and] do not hand over money,” he said.
