Good morning. Today is the 65th day of the year. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of March 7, 1902, reported on the case of former Brooklynite Dan Levey, who was charged with forgery. The Eagle didn’t exactly say what Levey did for a living, but it claimed he “cut quite a swath in the sporting world.” In Baltimore, according to the Eagle, he set up a Turkish bath, bet large amounts of money on the horses, married a “divorced Jewess,” and dazzled the sporting world with his display of cash, fast horses and diamonds.
Soon, however, he fled to California, abandoning his wife and taking a young woman with him. He called his wife long-distance in Baltimore, but, unknown to him, the police were listening in on the other end.

Well-known people who were born today include Hall of Fame tennis player Ivan Lendl, actress Rachel Weisz, singer Peter Wolf of the J. Geils Band (“Give It To Me,” “Love Stinks”) and Hall of Fame football player Franco Harris.
