Electronics retail chain Micro Center will have the soft opening of its first Brooklyn store on Monday, March 10, becoming the first tenant of Liberty View Industrial Plaza to open its doors.

The 35,000-square-foot ground-floor store will be a few short blocks from the growing creative hub known as Industry City, both located on the rapidly developing Sunset Park waterfront.

Micro Center is only one of several tenants at 850 Third Avenue, a century-old building made up of 1.1 million square feet of space that will be leased to businesses in the light industrial, manufacturing, technology and creative areas.

Among the other prominent tenants known to be setting up shop there are BrightFarms, which will take over 100,000-square feet of the roof, creating the world’s largest rooftop greenhouse and hydroponic farm to produce organic produce for local stores and eateries, and “big box” retailer Bed, Bath & Beyond, on the ground floor.

The building, formerly known as Federal Building #2, was once a warehouse for the U.S. Department of the Navy.
