‘Happy Ending’ for Bay Ridge massage parlor site?
Eye On Real Estate

Surely the new tenant at 7811 Fifth Ave. will be more respectable than Shirley Day Spa.
The now-closed massage parlor gained notoriety last summer when the owner and two workers were arrested in a crackdown on alleged prostitution at a dozen Bay Ridge salons.
A prospective taker has stepped forward for the vacant space, landlord George Photopoulos told Eye on Real Estate – and it sounds like the newcomer will handle a needed property fix-up.
“They’re going to make it a good place if they take it,” said Photopoulos, who has owned the building since 1986.
Some serious work needs to be done. A “partial vacate” order by the city Buildings Department says the cellar was illegally converted into sleeping quarters. (Do agency inspectors think what was going on down there was “sleeping”?)
Photopoulos wouldn’t say if he was surprised by the arrests at Shirley Day Spa.
“You lose your time now,” he said when asked, and ended the conversation.
