HOME SHOPPING
Burglars targeted two homes within blocks of one another on the morning of Monday, January 6, said police, although it is unknown whether the same suspect(s) are responsible in both incidents.
At around 7:30 a.m., someone forced their way through the front door of a home on Bay Ridge Parkway near 15th Avenue and stole electronics, jewelry and car keys, said police.
An hour later, at around 8:30 a.m., someone broke into an apartment on 78th Street near 17th Avenue and stole $215 in cash, electronics and a guitar from the bedroom of one of the female residents, police said. There was no sign of forced entry. One of the home’s residents also reported that her keys were missing and a stranger had repeatedly rung the doorbell and run for the previous two weeks.
DON’T CALL ME
Police arrested a 36-year-old white male for allegedly stealing his ex-girlfriend’s cell phone shortly after midnight on Monday, January 6, at a bar at 86th Street and 24th Avenue.
68th Precinct
Between Sunday, December 29 and Thursday, January 2, the 68th Precinct received reports of three robberies and two burglaries. The 68th Precinct serves Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton.
DELIVERY SCAM ARRESTS
Police said they caught two men nearly red-handed on New Year’s Day after they lured and robbed yet another unsuspecting Chinese food delivery man of his cash. The suspects are reportedly responsible for two robberies that week, as well as two robberies just days before—all carried out within the same few blocks.
At 10:15 p.m. on Monday, December 30, at Gelston Avenue and 86th Street, one of the suspects allegedly directed the victim towards the basement stairs, stating that his mother had the cash for the food. However, the victim spotted the second suspect, wearing a white coat and wielding a black firearm, at the bottom of the stairs, prompting him to escape the would-be robbers by running back to his car.
At 3:51 p.m. on Wednesday, January 1, the suspects were more successful, allegedly robbing at gunpoint a delivery man of his iPhone and cash outside a home at Seventh Avenue and 92nd Street, police said. However, responding officers found the suspects nearby at around 4:30 p.m., the victim positively ID’d them, and his stolen property was found on their persons.

DELI DROP
Police are searching for two suspects who, during the early morning of Sunday, December 29, reportedly broke the latch lock on the basement door to a deli at Fifth Avenue and 73rd Street in order to steal phone chargers, $1,800 worth of cigarettes and cigars, and $300 in cash.
