Barry Baldwin, 35, of Brownsville, was arrested on Friday, January 3, for allegedly perpetrating seven random unprovoked assaults on at least six Jewish women and a child in Brooklyn in broad daylight throughout November and December.

Baldwin has been charged with six counts of aggravated harassment as a hate crime, one count of aggravated harassment, one count of attempted assault, one count of endangering the welfare of a child, and one count of menacing.

The victims ranged in age from 20 to 78. One of them, a mother, fell onto her child when she was punched.

Baldwin’s arrest follows several earlier arrests of other individuals, also for alleged unprovoked assaults that fall within the “knockout game” pattern.

In November, police arrested four children, aged 10 to 14, for allegedly sucker-punching three Jewish children in separate incidents between October and November. The attacks were made at random, said police, and no verbal statements of bias had been made during the assaults. The four youths were charged with assault, endangerment and criminal mischief.
