Police investigate possible abduction in Bay Ridge
Teenager locked in car trunk
Police are investigating a possible abduction of a teenage boy that took place on a Bay Ridge street in broad daylight on Sunday.
The strange incident took place on the street in front of 434 Marine Ave. (between Fourth Avenue and Fort Hamilton Parkway), according to police, who said a video taken of the street shows a Hispanic male between the ages of 10 and 15 exiting the driver’s side rear door of a double parked Nissan Altima and then getting into the car’s trunk at around 2:20 p.m. on Dec. 22.
The young Hispanic male appears to enter the trunk unassisted, police said.
At the same time, a black man exited the front driver’s side of the car, walked to the back of the vehicle, and closed the trunk with the Hispanic male still inside the trunk, police said.
The black man is then seen on the video getting back into the car on the driver’s side and driving away, traveling eastbound on Marine Avenue towards Fort Hamilton Parkway.
The Police Department has released a video of the incident and is asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating the suspect. The incident took place within the confines of the 68th Precinct, normally a low-crime area. The precinct covers Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights.
The vehicle has been identified as a dark colored Nissan Altima, possibly a 2007-2012 model, according to NBC New York, which has posted the video on its website.
The Hispanic teenager had short black hair and was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, grey sweatpants and white sneakers, police said.
