Kings Inn barristers top their year with holiday gala

The Kings County Nathan Sobel American of Court, led this year by President Justice Ellen Spodek, celebrated almost 13 years of serving the legal profession with its annual gala at the Moreso Restaurant on East 59th Street in Manhattan.

The Inn, founded by Justice Marsha Steinhardt, retired Justices Abraham Gerges and Gerard Rosenberg and former Justice Edward Rappaport, represents the continuation of a tradition launched 800 years ago in London, where barristers met regularly at an “Inn Of Court” to exchange ideas on the evolving legal system and tutor younger lawyers.

These American Inns adhere closely to the educational function of their predecessors by acting out well-rehearsed, legally accurate skits to dramatize points of law and proper courtroom behavior.
