NYC taxi case pays $750,000 to drivers
State and city officials have reached a settlement with four taxi companies and an owner to pay nearly $750,000 in restitution to drivers charged too much to lease cabs and medallions.
The settlement is with Evgeny “Gene” Freidman, and companies he owns in part with control of more than 880 medallions.
The agreement was announced Thursday by state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and New York City Taxi and Limousine Commissioner David Yassky.
