NYC sanitation dept issues snow alert for Tuesday

The New York City Department of Sanitation has issued a snow alert starting at 4 a.m. Tuesday.

The department said Monday that its personnel have been loading salt spreaders and attaching plows and chains.

Sanitation has been coordinating snow clearing protocol with the Office of Emergency Management and the Department of Transportation.

The National Weather Service is predicting another 1 to 3 inches of snow for New York City and Long Island. The northern suburbs could get 2 to 4 inches.
