The Mod Squad is coming to Atlantic Yards Thursday afternoon!

Pre-made units for the world’s tallest modular building will be hoisted into place at a construction site in the shadow of Barclays Center.

Downtown Brooklyn’s first pre-fab apartment tower – referred to by developer Forest City Ratner as B2 – will start to take shape at Flatbush Avenue and Dean Street.

When it’s done, the tower, designed by high-profile SHoP Architects and engineering firm Arup, will be 322 feet tall. It will be the first housing constructed at Atlantic Yards – where Barclays Center recently completed its first year of operations and was named the Number One concert venue in America.

The modular components for the 32-story, 363-unit rental apartment building were manufactured by union workers at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Fifty percent of the apartments will be rented to low- and middle-income households.

While we wait for the hoists to crank up, here’s some architectural eye candy to look at.
