In the borough of all things literary, Riverhead Books (an imprint of Penguin Group) and Flavorwire are partnering to co-sponsor a “Celebrate the Holidays” party on Thursday, Dec. 12. The party will fundraise for PEN American Center, the international and literary human rights organization whose mission is to promote literature and writing and to defend free expression.

Held at the Brooklyn Brewery in Williamsburg, the party is open to the public. There will be dancing, snowflake-decorating and a raffle of a 3-D printer from the Brooklyn-based company Makerbot, as well as signed copies of all of James McBride’s books, including “The Good Lord Bird,” which just won the National Book Award. Numerous esteemed writers are slated to appear, including Brooklyn’s Amy Brill, Meghan O’Rourke, Rosie Schaap and Emma Straub.

The Dec. 12 party will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door. Brooklyn Brewery is located at 79 North 11th St. in Williamsburg.
