The shortened holiday shopping season is suddenly in full swing. For those who like to browse handmade crafts, listen to music and drink hot cider, nothing beats a holiday crafts market. Brooklyn hosts a number of great fairs and craft parties; here are some of them:

Plymouth Church School Holiday Bazaar: Come shop, mingle and buy amazing gifts and crafts on Thursday, December 5 (from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.) and Friday, December 6 (9 a.m. – 3 p.m.), at Plymouth Church in Brooklyn Heights. Enter through the Beecher Garden, on Orange Street between Hicks and Henry Streets. More at

P.S. 8 Holiday Craft Fair: ReCycle . ReImagine . ReCr8: This fun annual event on Saturday, December 7, from 12-5 p.m. is designed to bring the P.S. 8 community in Brooklyn Heights together for an afternoon of crafting, shopping and eating. Your kids can make amazing crafts while you shop! The school is located at 37 Hicks Street.  More at

Brooklyn Friends School Winter Festival and Artisanal Crafts Fair: This very popular event takes place Saturday, December 7 from 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at 375 Pearl Street next to the Brooklyn Marriott. A holiday shopper’s delight, with yummy food and activities like skateboarding, performances and carnival games and rides. More at:

Brooklyn Holiday Book Fair: This event features “rare and extraordinary books” from booksellers from across Brooklyn, and takes place on Saturday, December 7, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Presented by the Old Stone House and Honey and Wax Booksellers, with a reading of Auggie Wren’s Christmas Story by Paul Auster at 4pm. Brooklyn Night Bazaar: This event combines shopping with food vendors, brewers, artists and performers. The Bazaar takes place every Friday and Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight, at 165 Banker Street in Williamsburg. More at

P.S. 321’s Holiday Shop: This shopping event takes place on Saturday, December 7 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., at 180 7th Avenue in Park Slope. Lots of artisanal vendors, arts & crafts, hair braiding. More at–programs/321-holiday-shop

Crafted at the Canal: A reuse-themed holiday market, will return to the Build It Green!NYC Brooklyn reuse center on December 6 and 7, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at 69 9th Street, in Gowanus. This year’s fair features over twenty vendors who incorporate reuse and upcycled materials. More at

Scandinavian Christmas Market in Bay Ridge: This holiday market on Saturday, December 7 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. is organized by Scandinavian East Coast Museum and Nordic Delicacies. Nordic Delicacies, at 6909 Third Avenue in Bay Ridge,

Eat Pie and Shop Holiday Gift Fair and Pie Social: Come eat a slice of homemade pie and pick up crafts and locally sold goods at P.S. 29 in Cobble Hill. Plus, games for the kids. Bring your old toys to donate to Toys for Tots. 425 Henry Street, on Sunday, Dec 8, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Holiday Market at the Shops at 240 Kent Avenue: More than 30 new stores on the Williamsburg waterfront will host a special holiday night market on Thursday, December 12, from 6 p.m. to midnight, featuring complimentary drinks, food, music, special offers and discounts, and a festive holiday party atmosphere. 240 Kent Avenue (at N. 1st Street)

Brooklyn Flea’s Weekend Market: The unique flea market has moved to new digs in Williamsburg at 80 North 5th St. (at Wythe Ave.) with 200 vendors, including 75 Smorgasburg food vendors. Every weekend, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. More at

Holiday Handmade Cavalcade: Here’s a two day show of items crafted by the talented craftspeople on the “Etsy NY Team” December 14 and 15, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at The Space, 50 North 3rd Street in Williamsburg. More at
