Coming off a wildly successful packed show at BAMCafé last month, New York City’s fastest rising sketch group, American Candy, announces their next performance celebrating the silliest moments of the 1990s and the craziness of the holidays. The performances will take place on Dec. 13 and 14 at 8 p.m. at the Actors Fund Arts Center in Downtown Brooklyn. While it’s hard for some of us to believe that the 1990s were 20 years ago, American Candy is turning the clock back to remember Old Dirty Bastard, Family Matters, the TLC versus Pebbles debacle, ’90s reggae and the Web before it burst the first time. This is a chance to take a break from the holiday drama and give one’s self a gift – laughter.

American Candy has built a successful series by defying the stereotype that all comedy is the provenance of young white men. With a multi-cultural cast and team of female and male writers, the material has a wide appeal. American Candy has been offering sketch comedy to extremely receptive audiences in Manhattan and Brooklyn since June of 2009. Past themes have included Politics As Usual; The History of Sex; The Super ’70s; The Wild, Wild West and Back to School.  American Candy has an energetic troupe of talented actors and a strong base of writers and directors and is fast becoming a comedy institution in New York City.

Both the Dec. 13 and 14 events begin at 8 p.m. The Actors Fund Arts Center is located at 160 Schermerhorn Street in Downtown Brooklyn. Tickets are $20 (price includes a pre-show complimentary wine reception). For more info, visit All shows do sell out, so reservations are strongly recommended.
