Good morning. Today is the 340th day of the year. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of Dec. 6, 1925, reported that the Manhattan-centered Women’s Democratic Club of New York, allied with Tammany Hall, was starting a drive for members in Brooklyn. The club was responsible for the appointment of the first female judge in the city a year beforehand. The Eagle recommended that political women in Brooklyn start their own Democratic club to preserve local control and to avoid being overwhelmed by the Manhattan crew.

Well-known people who were born today include Gov. Andrew Cuomo, signer Macy Gray, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, actress Janine Turner (“Northern Exposure”) and Craig Newmark, founder of craigslist.
