Brooklyn-based group recognized for efforts in public service
The New York Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI), a nonprofit advocate for underrepresented New Yorkers, honored Jonathan Westin, executive director of the Brooklyn-based New York Communities for Change (NYCC), at the 2013 Felix A. Fishman Awards.
As the executive director of a Brooklyn-based coalition of working families in low- and moderate-income communities, Jonathan Westin has dedicated his career to community organizing to fight for causes such as the lack of a living wage for fast food workers and getting rid of PCBs, toxic chemicals in light fixtures, in public schools.
