The holiday spirit was in full effect this weekend as shoppers packed Kings Plaza to celebrate the lighting of the Enchanted Tree, marking the official start of the holiday season. Shoppers were given magic wands to count down the majestic tree lighting, followed by fun games, prizes and an appearance by Santa Claus. Everyone was in good spirits, and kids were able to enjoy milk and cookies with Santa.

The festivities took place on the lower level of King Plaza’s mall and Santa rode in on a nifty Segway. All the shoppers seem to be having a joyous time and with the holiday’s right around the corner, everyone was in the holiday spirit.

Dawn Simon, senior marketing manager for Kings Plaza, and organizer of the tree lighting, was very satisfied with the event saying, “It was very festive and upbeat. The first girl that was on line, her eagerness and anticipation captured the essence of the event.”

This was the first tree lighting event at Kings Plaza but it won’t be the last said Simon, who wants to get the word out that, “Kings Plaza is not only a shopping center but is also a community center and plans to involve the community as much as possible.”
