Good morning. Today is the 331st day of the year. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle of Nov. 27, 1897, carried an article, “Five Murder Mysteries Left by Brooklyn Police for Greater City Police Force.” At that time, Brooklyn was in the process of being absorbed into New York City, and that also went for its police force. These cases included the murder of a drunken printer outside the Saratoga Palace on Fulton Street near Stuyvesant Heights; an “aged miser” who was found dead at his home on South Portland Avenue in Fort Greene; and several other unexplained cases in Flatbush and Williamsburg.

Well-known people who were born today include actress Robin Givens (“Head of the Class”), actor Fisher Stevens (“The Brother From Another Planet”) and film director Kathryn Bigelow.
