The community came together on the evening of October 26 as Salam Arabic Lutheran Church hosted its annual dinner dance at the Bay Ridge Manor.

Besides providing an opportunity for community leaders to break bread together, the event honored four individuals for their outstanding work and contributions to the church community.

Dr. Imad John Bakoss (Man of the Year), Wendy Goldstein (Women of the Year), Dr. Muhammad El-Choum (Bridge Builder Achievement Award), and Maha Allawh (Community Service Achievement) were all celebrated for their achievements.

“The dinner was very successful,” noted Reverend Khader El-Yateem, the church’s pastor. “It was good to see all the community leaders together, Christians, Muslims and Jewish. We celebrated those that acted as leaders in portraying unity amongst the different cultures and beliefs. Their contributions help bridge the gap between Arabic and American.”
