The season of giving is in full swing for both kids and adults, as the Best of Brooklyn Toy Drive 2013 and the Cell Phones for Soldiers drive have kicked off.

The toy drive runs through Monday, December 9, and welcomes unwrapped toy donations at businesses and community spaces across the borough, although the main drop-off center is Brooklyn Borough Hall, 209 Joralemon Street.

Best of Brooklyn is a nonprofit that focuses on promoting tourism and encouraging civic pride.

Cell Phones for Soldiers is another way to give back while raising civic and national pride. The month-long phone drive sells/recycles donated cell phones and uses the money raised to buy pre-paid phone cards for active-duty military service members to keep in touch with loved ones.

Phones are being collected at 335 Adams Street, Suite 2700, through Friday, December 13. Make sure to remove SIM cards, erase data and restore your device to factory settings before dropping it off.

The program is being run in Brooklyn by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and AT&T.
