Ex-NYC Mayor Dinkins hospitalized, in good spirits
Former New York City Mayor David Dinkins remains in the hospital with pneumonia but in good spirits.
That’s what Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, who served under Dinkins, says after visiting him Thursday night.
He told Fox5 “Good Day New York” on Friday that Dinkins expects to be on his feet and out of the hospital in a few days.
Law partner and adviser Peter Johnson says the 86-year-old Dinkins was admitted Wednesday night after experiencing difficulty breathing
Dinkins was the first black mayor of the nation’s largest city. The Democrat served one term, from 1990 to 1993.
Johnson says Dinkins keeps a “breakneck schedule.” Dinkins is teaching at Columbia University and supporting various charities. This week, he hosted an event for Democratic mayoral nominee Bill de Blasio.
