Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A has received a huge honor from the New York legal community. The organization’s Community and Economic Development (CED) Program and the program’s founder, Paul J. Acinapura, have been awarded the New York Law Journal Impact Award for the creation of a legal model and for promoting and sustaining community economic development.

“I am honored and I am humbled to receive the acknowledgment,” Acinapura told the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. I think that [the award] is a testimony to community-based public interest law practices and in particular Brooklyn Legal Service Corporation A’s commitment to and connection with the community.”

CED is a neighborhood program designed to assist community groups and organizations attend to and maintain the legal aspects of their daily operations. The services provided by CED have allowed many organizations and development corporations in low-income neighborhoods to provide health care services, affordable housing, and a variety of educational programs for young children and adults.
