Subway riders on the A and R lines can ride for free on Tuesday along sections hardest hit by Superstorm Sandy.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced there will be no charge for riders entering stations on the A line between Howard Beach and the Rockaway Peninsula. Riders on the R line between Bay Ridge-95th Street and Court Street also will not be charged a fare.
The free subway rides are in effect only on Tuesday between 12:01 a.m. and 11:59 p.m.
The Montague Tube on the R line was flooded during the storm. It remains closed for repairs.
Residents in the Rockaways in Queens had no subway service for seven months while the A line south of Howard Beach was fortified against future flooding.
