There was warm applause at the 68th Precinct Community Council’s October meeting, as commanding officer Deputy Inspector Richard DiBlasio introduced the precinct’s new executive officer.

Captain Joseph Haywood comes to the precinct – which covers Bay Ridge, Dyker Heights and Fort Hamilton — from the 75th Precinct in East New York, where he served as a lieutenant. Prior to that, he was a sergeant in the housing police station in Queensbridge, and a police officer in the 109th Precinct in Queens. He has been a member of the NYPD since 1998.

“I am happy to be here,” Haywood told the crowd gathered at the station house, 333 65th Street. “I hope I can be an asset to the Bay Ridge community.”
