Elderly woman dies in Boro Park after being struck by car

A 69-year-old woman was fatally struck by a car, just blocks from her home in Boro Park, on Sunday, October 20 at 10:35 p.m.

According to police, the victim, Ethel Rubenstein, was attempting to cross 49th Street at 11th Avenue west to east at the crosswalk when a 2003 Mazda MPV minivan traveling northbound on 11th Avenue struck her.

Upon arrival, EMS and officers from the 66th Precinct observed her unconscious and unresponsive with severe body trauma. She was taken to Maimonides Medical Center where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
